Requirements:

CoC ETO STCW A-III/6
Past service as ETO on board large yachts.

The ETO reports to the Chief Engineer and is in charge of the Electro-Technical & IT-AV section of the Technical Department.
His responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. To be responsible for the day to day requirements that allow the Electro-Technical &IT-AV section to meet its safety and maintenance obligations.
2. To ensure the operational readiness and safe, efficient functioning of all electrical and electronic equipment and systems on board.
3. Delegation of tasks to the AVIT Officer as required.
4. To ensure the correct operation, maintenance and preservation of all electrical and electronic equipment and systems on board.
5. To carry out, and report on, all Planned Maintenance tasks pertaining to the equipment and systems in his charge.
6. To bring to the attention of the Chief Engineer any undue circumstances in conjunction with the operation and maintenance of the equipment and systems in his charge.
7. To assist in the preparation of requisitions for replenishment of spare parts and materials while maintaining strict recording of parts used.
8. To carry out, and report on, all Planned Maintenance tasks pertaining to the equipment and systems in his charge.
9. To assist the Chief Engineer in the collation of the defect list and specifications necessary for the next maintenance period or dry-docking.
10. Carrying out the designated emergency duties as per the vessel’s Muster List.
11. To maintain a record of updated insulation values for the vessel’s electrical equipment and systems.
12. Maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the equipment in his charge and the Technical Rooms listed in
13. To compile a concise monthly report to the Chief Engineer on the status of the equipment and systems in his charge, highlighting any significant failures or defects, to be submitted no later than the last day of the calendar month.
14. The ETO has special responsibility for the following essential safety systems, services and equipment:
a) Electrical switchboards and distribution panels
b) UPS systems
c) 24V systems
d) Navigation lights
e) UHF/VHF marine and air
f) PA/GA system
g) Low location lighting
h) Integrated Alarm & Monitoring System
i) Bridge navigation equipment
j) Lifts
k) Fire & Gas Detection Systems
l) Galley deep fat fryer thermostats
m) Mast & Rig electrical systems
n) Machinery space “deadman” system
o) Hotel electrical systems
p) Tenders
q) Propulsion Systems
r) Generators and electrical parts of engines
15. To ensure electrical section of the technical department comply with Risk Assessments, Permit to Work and Standard Operating Procedures as per vessel SMS.
