Third Officer is a junior deck officer responsible for navigational watchkeeping, ensuring the safety and seaworthiness of the vessel, and performing various duties related to safety equipment, maintenance, and ship operations. Key duties include maintaining navigational equipment, inspecting and testing life-saving and firefighting appliances, conducting safety drills and familiarization for new crew, assisting with passage planning and mooring, and maintaining necessary paperwork and reports to support the Chief Officer and Captain.
