TEAM LEADER – NON-TRADING VESSEL
We are looking for an experienced and responsible Team Leader to join our team on a non-trading vessel, formerly operated as a chemical e vessel is permanently stationed alongside the quay and is operated as part of an industrial/factory facility. The position requires a person with practical experience on tankers or similar vessels, good knowledge of vessel stability and cargo-related operations, as well as strong people-management and organizational skills.
Responsibility
• Overall responsibility for handling of cargo and cargo operations.
• Ensure that safety has priority before commercial interests
• Report to company head office without delay the possible modifications that he considers necessary to ensure protection of quality, safety, environment and efficiency.
• Overall responsibility for ensuring that training / maintenance on lifesaving-firefighting - pollution prevention and emergency procedures are carried out
• Shall in co-operation with the Ship Management Team create an environment where Safety awareness and appropriate precautions becomes an integral part of all tasks and processes being performed. Be an active leader and motivator for promoting Safety performance.
• Attend and participate in Safety and anti-pollution drills, including evaluation meetings.
• The Operator/Leader is to ensure that any media inquiries are directed to: SEA TANK CHARTERING AS – directed to Sigbjørn Tysse or Torbjørn Vedå
• Keep contact with factory Skretting regarding cargo related issues
• Keep contact with the arriving vessels
• Oversee tank cleaning
• Assist with local ordering of stores and food
• Monitor and maintain cargo onboard
• Ordering discharge of pre-wash (gas measurement, circulation, ventilation)
• Ballast/de-ballast.
• Overview of cargo related equipment in accordance with the panned maintenance system (PMS)
• Keep stock and ordering of tank cleaning chemicals
Emergency and Safety Responsibility
• Familiar himself with emergency procedures, lead in any emergency/critical operation
• He shall report accidents, and near misses and non-conformance, and maintain a proactive mindset to prevent incidents
Requirements
• Previous experience working on a tanker, preferably a chemical tanker, or a vessel with similar operational characteristics
• Practical knowledge and experience related to cargo operations
• Ability to understand and perform vessel stability calculations
• Experience working with tanks, cargo systems and related shipboard operations
• Previous experience in a supervisory or team-leading position is highly desirable
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Ability to organize work, delegate tasks and supervise personnel
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for assigned duties
• Good organizational and administrative skills
• Good working knowledge of English, sufficient for daily communication, documentation and cooperation with the Shipowner and Factory
• Good computer skills, including preparation of working-hour records and basic documentation
• Ability to cooperate effectively with both vessel personnel and shore-based management

We are looking for a practical, responsible and communicative person who is comfortable working with people and is able to effectively lead a team, organize work and delegate responsibilities.
Previous hands-on experience on a tanker, particularly a chemical tanker, is important for this position. The successful candidate should understand vessel operations, cargo-related activities and stability requirements, while also being capable of managing personnel, documentation, working hours, orders and communication with shore management
