2nd Electrical Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION :
Responsibilities:
Without negating Master's or Chief Engineer's responsibility, the Electrician is normally responsible for safe operation of all electrical equipment.
His responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Maintenance and proper running of all electrical equipment such as motors, switchboards, automation, navigation, radio equipment (when called for), cabling, light fixtures and Passenger and hotel area electrical equipment.
• Test running and checking of emergency diesel generator weekly.
• Maintenance and check of all batteries, including GMDSS.
• Directly responsible for cleanliness in ECR and Main Switchboard area.
• Maintenance and running of all refrigeration systems, such as air-conditioning, cold rooms, etc. with assistance from chief engineer.
• Maintaining all logs, reports and checklists relevant to his duties and updating the Planned Maintenance System, regarding tasks that he is responsible for.
• Maintaining IT systems (including satellite communication, TV and CCTV), seeking advise from the office (ITPMS Support) when required. Reporting to the Chief Engineer any cyber security threats or incidents noted;
• Keeping the Chief Engineer informed as to the status of all electrical equipment on board
• The Electrician shall be called upon standby in port and/or at any time as circumstances may require.
• Be familiar and strictly comply with Star Clippers safety and environmental procedures.
• Keeping his accommodation in clean and tidy condition.
